flok is our community. the flok app is a vital tool for managing your metabolic health and engaging with our community. the flok research platform is a way for all of us to use our collective data to drive research and progress for inherited metabolic disorders.
While at first glance "flok" seems like an acronym, we chose the name to evoke the flocks we see in nature. A flock is a community that moves; it goes somewhere. flok is an expression of our goal to support each other and make progress together.
If you live with an inherited metabolic disorder or care for someone who lives with one, flok is for you. We serve all inherited metabolic disorders of protein metabolism including PKU, Classical HCU, MSUD, Tyrosinemia, Urea Cycle Disorders, and Organic Acidemias.
We're launching our beta program in floktober! During this period, a small group of users will be invited to test the app, provide feedback, and help improve the experience for all. We can't tell you exactly how long this process will take and when everyone will get access, but we anticipate releasing flok™ to the community early 2024. Want a chance to join the beta? Sign up here.
Yes, eventually. After the launch of the flok app, we will migrate (ha!) the user base over to the flok app. The "EAT" section of the flok app includes current How Much Phe features and much more: offline search, a quick tap-and-tally method of tracking, a food photo log and more. Cook for Love recipes and locations from GO LOW PRO are also integrated. The flok app is about much more than diet. Explore its features here.
All HMP subscriptions will roll over to flok (with an initial discount for being a loyal user!)
The flok app is designed by and for those with the following disorders: Classical HCU, MSUD, Organic Acidemias, PKU, Tyrosinemia, and Urea Cycle Disorders. These initial members of the flok share a common treatment: the low-protein diet. If your condition isn't represented, you can request it be included in future versions of the flok app by using the chat bot on flok.org, or by downloading the app and clicking the "don't see your condition?" link during setup.
